Drop Down Charters Fishing Report for St. Augustine Florida - 08/07/2017

Bait: Cut sardine chunks and live bait

Water temp: 82

Water depth: 75-100ft

What's biting: kingfish, cobia, amberjack, snapper

The dog days of summer are here and fishing in St.Augustine Florida is still great on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters! As we hit the month of April, fishing can be a little tricky. Sometimes the fish will be chewing and othertimes lock jawed. With the tropical storms and hurricanes approaching the barametric pressure will fluctuate and so will the bite. I always like to fish a week before a storm or front, and maybe 2-3 days after the storm passes. The moon phase is also a key factor, depending on the fishing you plan, some full moon night bites can be the absolute best and Mangrove Snapper are one of many. If you are ready to get on a good fishing charter before the summer ends don't hesitate and book with us on Drop Down Charters here in the oldest city St.Augustine Florida. Let's go fishing!

Still solid fishing here in St.Augustine Florida the oldest city in the nation! Fishing on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters we have been running charters every day and are dialed in on the fish. I've had a lot of fullday trips which we have been fishing 100ft. The bait has been scattered but if you spend enough time you can get some minnows. Blasting from the bait spot to the fishing grounds and always looking at the bottom finder in search of new fishing spots. Once at the destination, anchor up and get in line with the wreck your fishing. Make sure your chum slick is running across the desired fishing area. From there you should be able to hone in on snapper and other bottom fish. After a good chum slick keep your eyes peeled for other pelagics that could swim up the back of the boat looking for the next chunk of bait. Till then come book your trip on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters and let's go fishing!

Still good half day action on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters here in St. Augustine Florida in this month of July. All you half dayers that want to catch some nice fish but don't want to be out there in the heat all day now is the time to get the last of the constant troll bite. The bait has been pretty  hit or miss and I like to be ready and troll early so I've been skipping the bait and just trolling artificial lures. It's been very productive and still catching a lot of kingfish, barracuda, cobia, and boneheads. Head offshore to the live bottom or structure in 65ft and troll around. Look for any signs of life. Birds, baitfish, or weed line all hold Fish. Come book your trip on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters and let's go fishing!

The fish are biting!!! Let's go fishing!!! St. Augustine Florida is the place to be. Come vacation destination here and do a fishing charter on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters. The fishing had been outstanding the last couple weeks with limits of amberjack and snapper almost every trip. There has been a thermocline in the water but if you can find live bait you can crush some fish offshore. I have been fishing waters in 85-100 ft for amberjack with a fish finder rig but with a very long leader. At least 8ft with flourocarbon leader will help you get the bite. Make sure you wait a few seconds after fish bites to make sure it swallows the bait. As I didn't follow my own rule and lost the biggest cobia I've ever seen two days ago!! The snapper have been on fire as well, using cut sardines is my favorite for big bees. You also catch a variety more fish. I have fished the last 21 days in a row and where dialed in here on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters to kill some fish. Give us a call and let's go fishing!

Feeling the summer time grind here in St.Augustine Florida charter fishing offshore the last couple weeks! Deep sea trips have been producing a good variety of fish with mackerel bites in the mornings and bottom fishing in the afternoon. Been catching bait on the beach in about 15-25ft of water, one throw and go! Mackerel are in the places I've mentioned before and amberjack jacks have been biting on only live bait because of the thermocline that's luking around still. Snapper are biting but not nearly as hard. Hopefully the water will move around some and get that cold water outta here in the next weather blow. Till then - Come book your trip on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters and let's go fishing!
