Good evening from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters here in the beautiful city St. Augustine Florida. The weather is currently 74 degrees and clear skies. A great time of year in northeast Florida, not to hot but not to cold! And the fish like it too! If your coming to St. Augustine Florida in November the offshore fishing charters will be hot. Deepsea fishing around 120ft should be wide open with some good bottom fishing for snapper and grouper. The offshore trolling bite for Mahi wahoo tuna fish and sails can also be very capable to be caught. As for inshore fishing charters back country for nice redfish trout flounder sheep head and black drum the bite in November is one of my favorites. A variety of bites and fish with awesome weather is hard to beat. I still have some days open so give me a call at Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in St. Augustine Florida and let’s go fishing.

Bait: Ballyhoos and sardines

temp: 64 degrees

Water depth: 120-500ft

What's biting: Mahi Mahi, wahoo, tuna fish, sailfish, barracuda, snapper, trigger fish, amberjack, Cobia

Good afternoon from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located here in the beautiful town of Saint Augustine Florida. It’s that time of year to get offshore with some big jet head lures, big reels and let’s do some high speed trolling for wahoo!! January and February months are a known time of year to troll offshore for dinosaur wahoo in St. Augustine Florida. Fish upward of 70lbs are common and a few monsters over 100lbs are caught every year offshore fishing northeast Florida. Drop Down Sport Fish Charters trolls both ways offshore when bait fishing and high speed trolling. I’ve caught wahoo both ways, but the differences between trolling baits and high speed lures are the bites. When trolling offshore with ballyhoos at 7 knots you are in the trolling speed for most pelagics to strike. Such as mahi, tuna fish, sailfish, marlin, amberjack, Cobia, barracuda and yes wahoo. So as you can see you can get a lot of bites and a variety of deepsea pelagics. As when you high speed troll big giant lures at 12-15 knots, the only fish that are gonna track it down and eat is a big wahoo, possibly a monster mahi-mahi. That’s it. So when you high speed offshore it limits you to not nearly as many bites but the ones that you do get are usually the right ones. It can be productive or very boring. If you are in St. Augustine Florida and want to offshore fish January or February give us a call on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters and let’s go fishing!!!

Good evening from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters here in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida the nations oldest city. The weather here in St.Augustine, Florida has been mild temperatures and steadily windy. The deepsea and offshore fishing charters have been slim with very few days fish able with the continued storms and winds. But if and when we can get out, usually this time of year on the longer offshore fishing charters to the gulfstream you can expect a variety of pelagics starting to trickle down. Some big wahoo can be caught in northeast Florida in the winter months along with sail fish, few mahi-mahi, and butter ball tuna fish. Drop Down Sport Fish Charters will put you on the meat any time of the year. Deepsea fishing charters bottom fishing can also be productive as grouper move closer to the inshore wrecks and reefs. Drop down a nice live bait on a inshore wreck in December and expect some big bites. On the Drop Down we use penn 6/0 with 50-100lb star rods for grouper. As for the inshore fishing charters, St. Augustine Florida is a great place to fish November and December for inshore species like redfish, trout and sheepshead. I’ve been doing a lot of back country flats fishing lately due to the windy ocean conditions. The redfish bite has been solid along w the trout biting artificial. The sheepshead one of my favorite fish to catch and eat, are plenty full when you have some chum and crabs. Knowing the right spots and rig is key when looking for big numbers of sheepshead. St Augustine is a growing vacation destination that has great fishing and water activities. Good evening from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located in the beautiful city St. Augustine Florida. Fall is here and even tho the water is cooling down, the offshore fishing is heating up. The longer 8-10-12 hr offshore fishing charters out of st. Augustine Florida this time of year is usually pretty solid fishing.

I like to troll in the deep for mahi-mahi,wahoo, tuna fish and sailfish in the morning on the break or wherever a good color or temperature change is present. Deep sea fishing for pelagics we use ballyhoo and lures, and even deep diving plugs.

If we are not getting any bites trolling offshore we can always switch over and bottom fish. The usual suspects like vermilion snapper, trigger fish, pink porgies, mutton snapper, red snapper, grouper, Cobia and amberjack are all deepsea fish that we will be targeting. A Fish finder rig with 80lb leader decent size circle hook and enough weight to hold the bottom is a sure way for big bottom fish. Remember big baits catch big fish!
