Good evening from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located here in the beautiful and oldest city st Augustine Florida. October is one of my favorite months of the year when fishing in St. Augustine Florida. The cool crisp mornings make great inshore fishing and the cooler water makes for clear water conditions back in the creeks. If tailing redfish are on your bucket list at high flood tide, October is a great month. Other inshore fishing charter species include sea trout and nice size flounder. Some of the biggest flounder I’ve ever caught as a kid we’re in October. Big finger mullet on a knocker rig or jig head. Just remember one thing when flounder fishing- big bait = big fish! As for offshore fishing charters the weather has had the fleet shut down. I had one trip last week on the Drop Down charter boat and ended up with a nice catch of vermillion Snapper trigger fish and a big Cobia. Offshore fishing in October for bottom fish can be very productive. I like live bottom this time of year, it holds more fish since the bait is gone now. Double rigs work well for meat fish but a big single rig dropped to the bottom with a big bait means grouper. Lock the drag down because you only get one chance or they break you off and can shut down the bite. Trolling can be decent to with a few pelagics starting to swim down. Sailfish , wahoo, mahi, and tuna can all be in the spread. Look for water temp changes or current rips. If your looking to book a fishing charter give us a call on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in st. Augustine Florida. Let’s go fishing!!!

Good morning from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located in the beautiful city of Saint Augustine Florida. It’s been a very busy summer fishing season on Drop Down Charters and I’ve been slacking on the fishing report but here is one for this month. Offshore fishing charters have been pretty good. On the half day offshore fishing charters we are catching Kingfish, Cobia, Sharks, barracuda and more. We have been slow trolling live bait on the wrecks, reefs and ledges. Look for birds and bait working on the surface, the Kingfish shouldn’t be to far behind. As for the long days deep sea fishing charters, we have been mostly just bottom fishing. Mangrove Snapper are one of my favorite fish to target offshore on the Drop Down. When the current is right, I like to set a drift line with some chum and see if I can get the mangos to swim up behind the boat. Other fish we catch on the drift line are African pompano, red snapper, amberjack, Kingfish and more. If we can’t get a good drift line, we go to the bottom and meat fish. Double rigs w cut bait usually do the trick and we can catch vermillion snapper, trigger fish, pink porgies, grouper and many more. If you want to get a good fishing trip this summer, give us a call on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in st. Augustine Florida and let’s go fishing!!

Good morning here from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in the oldest city St. Augustine Florida. The weather is warming up and the fishing is to, inshore fishing and offshore fishing. The bite on the inshore Charters have been steady, with double digits on redfish and a few keeper trout and flounder. The flounder bite has been steadily increasing to me and should peak in the next few weeks. As for offshore fishing the water is still kinda green and cold but it seems to be cleaning up on each trip I’ve been on. The bottom fishing has been decent and I’ve caught a few Cobia on the jigs while double rig fishing for snapper. I’ve fished the wreckes from 65ft out to 85ft. The gulfstream troll bite was hot for a couple weeks and now has slowed down a lil bit but it should be any day we get the first wave of Mahi Mahi coming threw. April and May are the months to get the pelagics so take advantage and give us a call to get your turn on some Mahi Mahi, tuna fish, wahoo, sailfish and even marlin. Let’s go fishing on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters!!

What's biting: red fish , trout , sheepshead

Good morning from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters here in the oldest city St. Augustine Florida. It’s been pretty breezy this week for the most part, but that hasn’t stopped Drop Down Sport Fish Charters. We’ve had a couple inshore fishing trips this week with decent results. A few slot size red fish to keep, a bunch of smaller rat reds, along with keeper size sea trout and flounder. I’ve been catching these fish all over the icw but more bites on the shoreline with some current. As for deepsea and offshore fishing out of St. Augustine Florida , the water is still green and cold, But that’s all about to change. There where lots of sailfish caught last week so the offshore pelagics should be any day the first wave of mahi and tuna Fish will be coming threw. Focus on the water temperature change and fish there, there should be plenty of action. If not then find any changes in the ocean from water temp, to water color, to structure such as weed lines or debris. A floating log or pallet is almost guaranteed Mahi mahi. If your looking for a inshore Or Offshore Fishing Charter call Drop Down Sport Fish Charters for premier charters in st. Augustine Florida.
